Countervailing Duty on Continuous Filament Glass Fibre Products from Egypt. Stop Press – 24 February 2026

Chapter: 70

On 24 February 2026, the Secretary of State for Business and Trade decided to accept the TRA’s recommendation to revoke the countervailing duty on imports of continuous filament glass fibre products originating from Egypt. This decision was given effect by public notice. Specifically, the goods concerned are described as:

  • chopped glass fibre strands, of a length of not more than 50mm
  • glass fibre rovings, excluding glass fibre rovings which are impregnated and coated and have a loss on igni-tion of more than 3% (as determined by the ISO Standard 1887)

These are referred to as “the goods”. The goods are classified under the following UK Global Tariff (UKGT) commodity codes:

  • 70 19 11 00 00
  • 70 19 12 00 22
  • 70 19 12 00 25
  • 70 19 12 00 26
  • 70 19 12 00 39

The countervailing duty on the goods is revoked from 26 June 2025. As the countervailing duty on the goods originating from Egypt is revoked with effect from 26 June 2025, importers that paid countervailing duty on the goods on or after that date are entitled to a reimbursement of the amount of countervailing duty paid in respect of those imports. Importers seeking reimbursement must submit a claim to HM Revenue & Customs using form C285, following the process set out in HMRC’s guidance on repayment of import duties.”
